At the beginning, there is a jump. The choreographer and performer Silke Grabinger jumps, the photographer Meinrad Hofer visualizes the process between jump and landing through fast image sequence. While jumping, the body partly takes abstract shapes. Grabinger has been working on this concept in various collaborations since 2009. In 2018, the equal artistic fusion between performance and photography is eventually possible with the work of Hofer. The images show a jumping human body embedded into deserted landscapes. The photography divides the jump’s time frame into several sequences and visualises the actual body’s movement which seems to stand still for a short moment. The series “Vi!” captures the ephemeral nature of performances in the frame of a photographic product of coincidence and inserts the standstill of the body into the seeming timeless void of the landscape.
Am Anfang steht ein Sprung. Die Choreografin und Performerin Silke Grabinger springt, und der Fotograf Meinrad Hofer macht mittels schneller Bildabfolgen den Ablauf zwischen Absprung und Landung sichtbar, wobei der Körper im Sprung teilweise abstrakte Formen annimmt. Seit 2009 arbeitete Grabinger in verschiedenen Kollaborationen an dem Konzept, zusammen mit Hofer kommt es 2018 schließlich zu einer gleichwertigen künstlerischen Fusion von Performance und Fotografie. In den Aufnahmen bettet sich der menschliche Körper im Sprung in die ansonsten menschenleeren Landschaften ein. Nur die Fotografie teilt die Zeitspanne des Sprungs in einzelne Abbildungen und macht die tatsächliche Bewegung des Körpers sichtbar, der für einen kurzen Moment stillzustehen scheint. Die Serie „Vi!“ hält das Ephemere der Performance als fotografisches Zufallsprodukt in einem Moment fest und fügt den Stillstand des Körpers in die scheinbar zeitlose Leere der Landschaft ein.
