Bernhard Lang and Silke Grabinger come together in a dance notation for musicians.

65 min.

Commissioned by the Austrian Cultural Forum and the Klangforum Wien to commemorate its 10-year anniversary, the piece traces the building’s architecture in 22 layers with the architecture’s original proportions referenced in temporal structures. In a choreographic layer, Austrian performance artist Silke Grabinger transposes the underlying rhythmic structures to movement patterns. She develops a new form of „dance-writing“ that Bernhard Lang directly integrates into the score.

This piece was performed in two different versions.
The New York City Version is interpreted by the Argento Ensemble and conducted by Michel Galante.
The Wien Modern Version is interpreted by PHASE Ensemble and conducted by Joseph Trafton.

(Sopran, Flöte, Klarinette, Trompete, Horn, Percussion, Synthesizer, Violine, Viola, Violoncello, Kontrabass in unterschiedlichsten Kombinationen).
